Going back to SEA! Must see gardens/plants

Hello-

My husband and I are going on a return trip to Southeast Asia. We spent 5 months

there in '03 and '04 and remember all the great palms, banana trees, Elephant

ears, and orchids we saw. Unfortunately then (when I had 5 months!) I was not

the plant freak that I am now.

I am wondering if there are other plants that you would recommend seeing in

their native habitat. Also, are there any botanical gardens that I shouldn't

miss this time around? We will be in Bangkok, Samui Islands, Chiang Mai/Rai, Pai,

Northern and Central Laos, and Central and Northern Viet Nam. We just purchased

our tickets yesterday and I am giddy with excitement. We loved South and

Southeast Asia so much...the wonderful people, sites, customs, and food made it

an area of the world that I will go back to repeatedly. Thanks (kop kun kaa!) for any info you

can provide.Â

Some photos from a Lao jungle hike last time:

I couldn't believe how huge these were!
