Dow Gauk Yard-long Beans

| Found these Lilly Miller "Dow Gauk Yard-long bean" seeds at local nursery. Planted some late last summer.
Does anyone know whether they can handle the Phoenix, AZ hot summer sun directly or should they be shaded?
Thinking of putting up a lean-to type trellis and have the beans shade lower plants like lettuce.
Thoughts? Experience? |

| yard long beans survive in the Philippines, in fact it is a common staple, they grown in full summer sun of 40C. Don't know if Arizona is like that, but at 40C, we try to make makeshift shades for them from big cardboard boxes, or else, they get sunburned. They are comfortable at about 30-35C temperatures. | no matter what u do in the summer lettuce won't work yardlong bean on the other hand will thrive i planted them in june last year hear in avondale and they thrived on the heat. also try okra, armanian cukes and eggplants in our summer inferno these grow like weeds |

| Concur with the above... Yardlong beans thrive in the south Louisiana heat. Production increases as the heat increases. |
First time growing it, how to?

| I am growing yard long beans for first time, Dallas TX. Planted them outdoors about 3 weeks ago, plants are now about 3" tall. Is there any thing I should or should not do to get good crop? Thanks. |
