Could it be a night-blooming cactus? e.g. Hylocereus undatus, Epiphyllum oxypetalum; in which case the 'leaves' you describe are actually stem segments.

Try a Google image search on each of these names.

Thanks Tony, your suggestion of Hylocereus undatus looks real close, just have to see if I can get it to flower & if the flower & fruit match up. Thanks again, Larry

If it is the Hylocereius Undatus, the bloom lasts only one night. To avoid missing this beautiful large bloom, pay attention to the bud. When it is about to bloom, you can cut it, put in water, and bring it indoor and watch it opens. It is grown fairly easy in Southern Texas. I kept forgetting to water it during the hot summber, yet, it survived quite well.

Mine is huge, in a pot and sit under this Oak tree. I had a great bloom season last year but missed seeing them all because it was a real busy time for me. All I ended up seeing are the droopy blossom (after it opened).

Tan Hwa is Epiphyllum oxypetalum, or night-blooming cyrus.
