Hi, can anyone help me identify this Berry (desc below) and also would you happen to know if this will grow in Houston?

Here is the description of the berry:

It is white in color (looks like Popcorn), and is inside a POD that has greenish/redish color to it. The pod probably has like 8~10 white berries inside it, and the White berry itself has a black seed within it.

Could be Manila tamarind, Pithecellobium dulcis. If so, I doubt it would grow in any climate where winter temperature gets down to freezing point (i.e. 0 deg C or 32 deg F)

It sounds like your not describing a berry but some sort of bean. Do you have more info? How does it tastes like? Leaf shape? Tree shape? Flowers?
Another guess, can it be some kind of Inga species, the ice cream bean?
