What's wrong with my Luffa plants? They have not flowered yet?

Posted by chueh 7b GA (My Page) on

I started sowing seeds in mid April. I planted the seedlings early in May. All of the 3 have been growing and growing, yet none of them starts to flower. I know that a luffa plant takes a much long time to mature and produce the fruits. However, summer is almost over; none of the plants is flowering..... 3 months already....

Thanks for your answers

I suggest that you check the soil, it appears it lacks iron.

Just place a rust old nails, dig in the soil 3 inches deep

1 feet away from the plant. Try it. It should work

I hope you didn't give up on your Luffa plants. We have been growing them here all year as well and ours didn't flower until mid-July/August and we didn't start finding fruit until this month! It has a loooooong growing season but it works out when the weather cools off.
