Lily bulbs

| I bought a package in the local asian market today. It was labeled "Fresh Lily Bulbs" and "Lanzhoubaihe". The country of origin is listed as China and all other information on the package is in Chinese. The bulbs are about 2 inches in diameter and white. Does anyone know what kind of plant they may be from? A Google search didn't turn up anything. |

| I know exactly what you are talking about because I used to live in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu. I am amazed that you found them fresh here in the States; I've only seen them dried at Asian Markets here. They are one of the famous local delicacies there, and are in fact Lily flower bulbs, but I don't know the variety, because they are different than the types of Lilies I have seen grow here in the US. If you google "Bai He", (Leave off Lanzhou) you will find some information on them. |
