I received some seeds today called Japanese Pie pumpkins. The only other information I have is that they are a C.Pepo. Does anyone have any information regarding this pumpkin? Are they green? Orange? Some other color? How big do they get? I'd appreciate any information.

One pumpkin sold as Japanese Pie is also called Nippon Island.

Thanks so much. I'll have to take a look at the actual seeds and see if that's it. I have not been able to track down a Japanese Pie pumpkin that's a C. Pepo on the internet. Maybe they're labeled wrong?

I don't know of any C. pepo associated with Japan. There are a couple of C. moschatas including one named Jap. Some folks refer to the C. maxima Kabocha types as Japanese pumpkins. Once you grow it out, you will know for sure.

I took a look at the seeds today. It's definitely not the Nippon Island pumpkin, which is too bad. I think I'm going to have to put that on my wish list. So I guess I'll be growing a little mystery.
