Asian melons/starting seeds

Posted by spyfferoni z4/5 UT (My Page) on

I ordered some some Asian melon seeds called Sakata's Sweet mostly out of curiosity. They sounded good! Do I start them indoors and transplant them like I would cantelope or Watermelon. My last frost is usually in the first part of May and my first frost around the end of September.
Thanks!

I would! I'm also trying a new melon this year "Collective Farm Woman". Supposed to mature super early (it's a Russian variety) & is supposed to be super sweet.

I always start my melons & squash indoors. For me that removes crow predation of the seed. I start them about 3 weeks before planting out. I don't want them inside for too long.
