When should I harvest my Thai eggplants?

So I bought a small Thai eggplant start from the local farmers' market, and it's now about 2 feet tall and appears to be doing really well. The trouble is, though, I have no idea when to harvest the eggplants. The first couple have been on the plant for several weeks, and are a bit bigger than a golf ball. They started off white, then got green stripes, and now one is turning bright yellow. They have always had the same very firm consistency, as far as I can tell. I thought they might go a bit soft or start to fall off the plant, but they haven't so far.

How can I tell when these eggplants are ready to eat? I asked the guy I bought the plant from, but he wasn't sure either. Thanks!
