| Paul your inquiry has sat here long enuf for someone more knowledgeable to answer. I'm encouraged by your "any info will help" statement - and will just take a shot. I am growing Asian melons for the 1st time this year. I've happily grown early maturing melons but never the Asian types. The success of a gardener in southwest Colorado has prompted me to try the Asians. He seems to be limited to these quick varieties because of low night time temperatures and a very short season. But, he has good luck with them each year. We both have garden soil that is high pH. If the alkali soil of the interior West is an indicator, a neutral pH or even above 7 may well be a good idea for your Asian melons. Steve |
