My neighbor has this plant. They use it to make some kind of rice balls. It gives the rice balls blackish color. I don't know how to explain the taste but it's quite mild. Anyone know the name of this plant and how else it is used?

mystery plant.

I think it is an Artemisia, probably Artemisia princeps - Japanese Mugwort or Yomogi.

I have not seen any flowers on these plants before. Neighbor is from Jiangxi province in China and they brought this plant with them a long time ago.
