The kabocha is growing nicely. I allow the plants to spread out of the beds and they are growing in all direction. Now the biggest fruit is about fist size. I see more and more female flowers. I see a lot of bees in the flowers.

I planted more of them and the new ones just put out the 3rd true leaves. I'm not sure if there is enough time to set any fruits. At least I set up the beds for next year....

I don't have any advice, just want to say hi. This is my first time growing anything, and I have 3 kabocha plants growing in my little raised bed. MIne are growing pretty slow, I put the seeds in on 5/19, and I'm just now getting some female flowers. One plant is still just 3 inches tall only, the other 2 are crawling/climbing some.

Johnny's in Maine says this about curing:
Cure in the field to dry and toughen skins by exposing fruits to sun for 5-7 days or so, covering in the evening if frost is likely. An indoor method of curing is to expose squash to 80-90ðF (27-32ðC) with ventilation for 3-5 days.

Not sure when your frost is but they can only take 1 or 2 frosts out in the open. Here in NH, I plant garlic in October so maybe November is right time for your area. Need to plant before ground freezes but not too early that it starts sprouting.

I would leave plants alone this year. It's better to let Mother Nature handle crowding, I think, than to try to pull out any vines so you avoid damaging good plants' roots. You could try clipping unwanted plants but that sort of invites problems, I think.
