Tried growing chinese celery twice so far with minimum success. The problem is that they like a lot of water and relatively cool temperatures so my zone (7a) is not really best for it. For recipes, you can blanch them and then toss it with sliced chinese cooked tofu, seasame oil, salt, and sugar. That is probably my favorite ways of eating it. Definitely not "American" but very tasty.

Chinese broccoli is eaten mostly for the flowering stalk. It is actually very sweet and tender, goes well with some oyster sauce or in seafood stir fry. It is quite different from regular broccoli or kale but I don't know how to describe it exactly.
