April Cross is about as slow to bolt as any Oriental radish. The key tho is "in the north". In the south the heat will take them out. The greens are as good or better than turnip greens, so maybe you should steal a few from the birds.

Thanks, Farmerdilla, but I'll pass on the greens -- turnip greens, YUCK. Not in my culinary heritage, and I find them too strong tasting. I do use kale and collards, though, but not for traditional cooked greens, but in recipes. Collards are great for making stuffed cabbage, no peeling leaves off a head. Kale in soups, that sort of thing.

Anyway, I'm sure you're probably right about that, but if any year would test them, it would be this year. It has been HOT here this year -- days in the upper 80s to mid 90s with nights only in the low 70s. And humid. I honestly don't know how you stand it in the summer in Georgia, if the weather is like this for several months. I guess you get used to it.
