When to plant melons in San Fran, CA, USA ?

Hello All,

This probably belongs in the calif garden forum but it has some overlap here as well...

I'm interested in growing winter melons and bitter melons in my garden in San Francisco. When is a good time to plant these ? Will they grow well ? I'm in zone10CA.sf if that helps at all...

Thanks,
rsk.

They need a long growing season with full sunshine to mature. I'd start in April, when the soil is warm.
