What is 'AOOK'?

Posted by jayreynolds zone 6/7 (My Page) on

I received a seed packet of this green leafy Korean vegetable with no further information. The seeds don't look like any member of the cabbage(brassica) family, which are small round balls. These seeds are shaped like a rounded wedge with ridges.

Can anyone tell me how it should be grown and harvested?
Spacing, height, season, days to harvest, etc?
Thanks,
Jay

RE: What is 'AOOK'?

the seedlings have now come up very quickly and I recognized them as a member of the "Malva" family, which includes Okra and Hollyhock flowers. I believe they are the plant called Malva Crispa or Malva Verticillata, known for use as greens, probably immature leaves are used.

Can anyone give me some details on culture and harvest of this plant? see link below for a photo of the leaf shape
