| Hi all:
I planted this curry leaf sapling about 3 months back... it was growing ok till about end of June... since then I have seen no new leaves on it... the plant itself seems to be otherwise healthy...(No black color leaves etc.)... what is more, around last month, another little curry leaf plant started growing beside the main one.... and the little one seems to be doing fine... with new leaves almost every week... I am not sure if there is something wrong with the older plant.. any advice on what I should do is greatly appreciated...
And oh.. I have these little black color ants running up and down on the main plant... but not on the small one... is this a problem??..
If any one could help me out, I would be most grateful..
Best Wishes,
Sangeetha

Hum.... ants usually don't harm plants, but in your case it may not be a bad idea to spray with insectidal soap. Where are you located? How often have you watered it this summer and how?

Hi Sangeetha, My curry leaf plant just arrive a few days ago from Kartuz Greenhouses and is about as tall as your plant. I'm still learning about the plant but, from what you say, it sounds like the little one is getting all nutrients from the larger plant. Have you given it some light fertilizer? Does it get enough light and warmth? As I recall reading everything I could, the young plants need about 50/50 light to shade and don't do well in cold (okay, it has been a blistering summer in San Jose) durning the winter.

Hey all... Thanks for all the insights... I live near Charlotte NC... pretty hot here too... as for watering the plant, I water deep about once every 2 days... my deck faces west but I am sure the plant gets atleast 5 hours of sun each day... and this weekend I noticed little trasparent bulges on the stem of the main plant... tried removing them and lo!.. I think they are actually some kind of insects!!... is there any safe and effective way to eradicate them??... or is hand picking the best?... Once again, thanks for all your help... Best Wishes, Sangeetha

Try taking the plant to a respected nursery in your area and ask if they can identify what it is.

Nothing to worry about your plant. It takes a while for the plant to establish after transplanting.Another plant growing from the Mother plant is called Sucker which was ready to emerge at the time you bought the plant. It will show sign of good growth since it is fed from the roots of mother plant. The emergence of sucker itself is a proof that your plant is in good health.Curry leaf plants need moisture and warmth. If you have mint or similar plants then keep this plant near them.Keep the plant out door during hot weather and take inside before frost.
