Farina is a product of cassava/tapioca and very popular in Africa. Does anyone come across of the product being produced in South East Asia region particularly in Malaysia?

I thought farina was a wheat product? Like what's in 'Cream of Wheat'?

I have a tapioca tree but am not familiar how it is used for food. It is a beautiful tree, but frost sensitive. I believe tapioca is derived from the root of the tree.

thanks for the response

to my understanding, tapioca is a tropical tree and I wonder you have that tree in california? Tapioca or cassava (Manihot esculenta) can be consumed from the root (either boiled or fried) or the shoot (normally boiled or mixed with gravy)

refer to the link for further info

Here is a link that might be useful: Manihot esculenta

Anakaleki,

"The basic procedure for farina production is simple: the cassava is peeled, grated, and allowed to ferment for about 1-2 days when water is extracted by compression of the mash, then roasted. Farina is produced throughout the country, especially in Bassa, Bomi and Nimba counties."
