Hi, I've been told this is a yam, but I can't find anything that sounds like it. The 'air potatoes' can grow up to around 8cms x 5 cms x 2cms they are brown with rough skin with ridges. When it first sprouts from the ground, it has a huge oblongish cross section red sprout about a cm at its widest point. I haven't investigated the tubers below the ground. My friend who told me it was a yam said I could eat the 'fruit' as well as the tubers and they tasted the same.

Can anyone positively identify it?
