| I have tried growing the green amarranth only. I'm planting as my hobby, not really for whether it has high protein or not. It's easy to grow, doesn't need much maintenance, can withstand hot and dry weather (as in I couldn't get to water it everyday!), no pest has disturbed my amarannths so far, and it grows quickly. I can already harvest it in just about 3-4 weeks after sowing the seeds! If you would like to see my green amaranths, perhaps you try going here http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/photo.php?pid=30704642&id=1109096645 but dunno if it works. Otherwise you can add me as friend in Facebook to see my amaranth photos. |

| I would ask you if you have tried cooking the grains yourself from the health food store. If you haven't, then you should do that first, to see if you even like it. Then, if you do, proceed to grow it. It grows well in Florida, quinoa may be more of a challenge in Florida because it prefers cooler temps and is more daylight sensitive. You'll need to research varieties. |
