Mystery Asian vegetable - help needed please

Hi everyone.

I am in need of some assistance. A neighbour gave me some plants to grow in my garden. He transplanted them from his own garden. Unfortuately, we do not share a language in common and I have no idea what these are or how to cook them. He is currently harvesting the leaves and I believe he intends to chop them up and stir-fry them with garlic and spices.

I have tried researching this on my own with no luck. The plant in the picture is about 2' tall. I have roughly a dozen and he has 60 or so.
