Lentils?

Hi Everyone,

I grew lentils so many years ago that it’s difficult to remember but what I do recall is that the plants were tiny, tiny things and production was so limited it was simply embarrassing. I imagine that the lentil seed was from the supermarket.

Are there larger varieties which make some sense to grow in a garden?. Not far away, there are some acres of lentils grown commercially. I doubt if the variety is very appropriate for a gardener but not sure. It is encouraging to me that this area apparently is appropriate for the crop.

So, does anyone have experience growing lentils and have a suggestion as to seed choice?

Steve

Well, after a little looking around - I can see that my question could be confusing.

I am referring to, Lens culinaris.

Thank you in advance,
