Many of us would really like to know what plant Chukkaakoora seeds are from. The word suggests that it might be a Maori(New Zealand) plant. Even if you do not know the current botanical name, do you know to what family it has been assigned?
I have never used or seen this plant before. However, every season I do try some of the rare/popular/nutritious/interesting/ difficult to grow --kind of plants. Experimenting with new seeds/plants in my garden each year excites me .
As far as I know Botanical name is "Rumex vesicarius", in Hindi it is known as "Ambari", popular name is "Bladder-Dock".
There are few genuine experts in this forum who may chip in and give you correct/more information, suppose I am wrong.
I do not have these seeds now. I used all mine earlier in the fall. The seeds look like small flowers. This green leaf vegetable does very well in early spring and fall in the area where we live. I am in zone7 (Bowie, Maryland). I plan to manage to get them by Spring. As an experiment, I left two plants out in the garden. We already had a few frosts. The plants are still alive. May be they will die soon. I hope I gave you enough input to know what to do. I use these leaves in my cooking extensively. I also throw a few leaves in my salads also. Indu Modali
