| Finally got the pictures uploaded for the wintermelons we grew this year. Moved them into the house after the frost (should have done it earlier). This is the biggest one sitting on a bathroom scale:
Take a guess how much it actually weighs. :) You can view the full set online. |

WOW! My first thought was 35 pounds, but I thought "I don't want to look foolish." So I lowered my guess and looked really foolish. :=) You did everything right. I think you have 2 green thumbs!! You have a right to be proud. |

| These winter melons are actually pretty easy to grow. The hardest part is to get the seeds to sprout. Once you do that, just dig a hole in your yard and plant the seedlings. They'll keep growing and growing. Our hot and sunny Texas summers probably helped a lot. The winter melons shown in my photo set are from 3-4 plants, but the majority of them is actually from a single plant. |

| Sprout the seeds in a slightly moist washcloth or paper towel in a zip loc bag on top of the fridge. While it is not recommended to start any type of melon seed somewhere other than it's intended growing spot, those in cooler zones need to do this due to the longer growing season these require. |
