Rhododendron, 'Cynthia'

They get pretty tall around here. Most of the older gardens have them taller than this. The guy in the picture is just under 6 ft. tall. Kuma, my neighbor's dog, is big. The crocagator is 45 ft. long and needs a haircut. Click on the pic to enlarge it.

| Sunset once had an article on this one and 'Pink Pearl', said they were popular around the turn of the century and some from that time were still around. Showed the tall bank of 'Cynthia' in the rhododendron garden across the street from Reed College, in Portland and also a definitely tree-like 'Pink Pearl' in a small Portland front yard. It had a single trunk and large, rounded, elevated crown. Have never spotted this last one driving around Portland. Hopefully it still exists, and has not been spoiled by mal-pruning or other misfortunes. |

| Botann, I browsed your photo site and was just astounded. You have so many gorgeous Rhodies and others. The deep blue hydrangea just blew me away. Thanks for posting the pics for us to enjoy. |
