First the National Arboretum website announced the suspension of plans to destroy the azalea, boxwood and other collections.

Then the NBC TV station in Washington, DC, announced "Anonymous Donor Saves the Azaleas"

Apparently some one gave FONA a million dollars to set up an endowment for the azaleas and boxwood. Some details of the FONA came out in a press release:
