Looking for purple flowering Rhody

I have a catawbiese grandiflorum I planted last fall. It seems that it did not do well over the winter. It has been wilted for the last three weeks. I think the spot were I put it gets too much sun. There are large trees over the spot but these do not have leaves during the winter, so the sun and wind was blasting at it.

Can anybody recommend a hardy purple flowering rhody that will perhaps handle the sun better? I still like to have a Rhododendron on that location. Ideally one that produces lots of flower and grows 4 Â 7 feet tall when mature.

Thanks for the advice.
