There are 4 different azaleas called Red Ruffles.

'Red Ruffles' or 'Redwings' Brooks evg az, zone 8

'Red Ruffles' Southern Indian evg az, zone 9
'Red Ruffles Variegated' Southern Indian evg az, zone 9

Good grief. How do I know which I have? I guess I'll just throw it in the ground and see if it lives!

Mine seems to have 'double' blossoms. That is, the a blossom within a blossom (hose-in-hose) and the edges are frilly. Flower color is a very hot pink. Leaves sort of look like the Belgian indica type. I guess it could be a Rutherford hybrid though there was nothing on the tag about that.

OK lets see how that fits with the different Red Ruffles:

They probably are all ruffled or they wouldn't be named 'Red Ruffles'

So it sounds like they must be very similar except for hardiness.

Here's a pic of mine. The color is a bit deeper red than is seen here. Odd that they all are described as being similar -- except for hardiness. Well, I have a warm microclimate to plant it in. so we'll see how it does!
