Azalea help

I have an azalea in a pot which is outside. It has been blooming almost non-stop since last fall. Many beautiful blooms. It only stopped twice for short periods, once during a freeze and another windy period. Then it went back to blooming. However, the leaves have been pale and dropping. Fewer and fewer leaves. Can a plant "bloom itself to death"? What can I do to get it to grow darker, more numerous leaves.

Good drainage is the most important thing. Repotting in a bigger pot and root-pruning since it is probably root bound is next. If the leaves are yellow between green veins, the soil is not acidic enough. If you have alkaline tap water, don't use it. Rain water is the best.
