RHododendron Cunninghams White pruning question

I've had this Rhody for maybe 3 years now ????

Otherwise healthy, I've seen only one solitary bloom ever. I am to blame for that, it's been in almost full shade.

So, I just moved it, and I realize I probably won't have any blooms this year, sun or not, due to moving it.

My question is, there are some old buds on it that never opened (from last year) - do I prune these back now?

Do I fertilize beginning mid-April for my zone? Now is too soon, I'm assuming, though I did amend the soil with sphagnum peat moss and composted manure when transplanting since the soil in this area tends to be somewhat dry (there's a lilac shrub nearby, I'm assuming that sucks a lot of the water from the soil).
