Should have started blooming again the first time they got fully developed, normal shoots matured and budded. Timing would suggest it was the pruning, if regrowth has been unusually feeble then maybe they really haven't come back enough yet to bloom. But even with a hard whack you'd normally have older shoots left below the point of pruning that would open buds set before the assault. If this is a really shady area maybe that is why they looked to you like they needed pruning in the first place, and why they are having trouble blooming. The solution would be to do something to get them into more light, rather than attacking the shrubs themselves. The source of shade can be addressed (as in pruning branches of trees) or the azaleas, which transplant easily can be moved to a better spot (if available).

Pruning stimulates vegetative growth and inhibits flowering. It also removes the flower buds for the next spring's flowers. Always prune immediately after they bloom to avoid removing flower buds.

bboy's suggestions about opening up the shade are probably the best course of action. Shade makes them leggy and inhibits the formation of flower buds.

You could also move it into a sunnier location.

Another problem is too much nitrogen fertilizer.
