Scraggly Azaleas

I have a couple azalea bushes that are tall and scraggly, without many flowers.

How do I make them bushy and short? When?

Prune after flowering to shorten. Pinch the new growth tips periodically to increase bushiness. The usual reason, however, for scraggly growth and sparse bloom is insufficient sun. Anything you can do to increase sun exposure will help.
