Shrubby, Fast Growing Rhodie Recommendation?

Wayne Reibold

I have a number of very tall (e.g., 12-15'), mature rhodies at my property but have some gaps between them where neighbors are viewable.

I'd like to add rhodies between these spaces but want to make sure I plant ones that are fast growing (at least fast for a rhodie!), can get tall and have more of a shrubby tendency vs. a leggy tendency.

Color of the bloom isn't as important to me as the above characteristics but if I had a choice in color I'd stay away from solid red and solid pink as I already have a lot of those and personally like multi-color blooms and yellows, oranges.

Any rhodie experts out there have any recommendations? I've been to places such as the huge Rhodie nursery in Bonney Lake plus D&Js in the Fife area but I don't get a lot of specific recommendations from them.

Thanks in advance!
