New species is an oxymoron. Species are hundreds of years old. Hybrids can be new, but not species. Some are newly named, but not new.

Get a grip! I suspect OP was referring to "new" to that particular garden.

Yeah, jean is right: I simply meant new to Albers Vista Gardens, as stated in the phrase "we have recently added some new rhododendron species."

"New species" is not an oxymoron. In fact, 'species novum' is the correct term in botanical and other forms of classification for new discoveries.

Yes, it's a nit, but I couldn't resist picking it.
