Rhododendron Chapmanii

Several years ago when I visited my sister in Augusta, GA, I went over the river to South Carolina to Woodlander's Nursery and picked up some r. chapmanii or r. minus var. chapmanii, a native of northwest Florida of all places and on the Federal Endangered Species list. Both my plants have never grown any taller than about 2' or maybe 2 1/2', and they've colonized, that is, spread wider and wider. Since they've spread enough, I may try and root some pieces of it this summer to have some more to plant where I want a real short plant. This is my only evergreen rhododendron, the others all being deciduous. It's blooming now -
