Cunninghams White - half dead - UGH!

I transplanted last fall, late in the season. In prior years it never bloomed due to too much shade, but was otherwise healthy. Moved this spring, maybe 2-3 weeks ago, to more sun.

Scored the roots, did everything I was supposed to do.

Only half the plant looks like it's coming out of dormancy, in fact, it looks like the entire back half of the plant did not survive, these are the branches that were closest to my garage wall in the winter months (shade). Three branches appear completely dead. I'm guessing maybe it didn't have enough water in the fall to carry it through winter.

Cutting these dead branches off may look hideous.

What are my options? Am I stuck with this funny shape? The remaining branches look healthy, there's maybe a little winter burn but that's it.
