Rhodendrum leaf problems

I'm asking for my gardening sister. She has an older Rhoddie, it is on the northern side, great soil. It's now losing all the leaves at the bottom. why, and what should she do about this? I'm unfamiliar about them and would appreciate it if you sent the answer to me as quickly as possible to madgardener1@yahoo.com thanks!

It is perfectly normal for rhododendrons to drop the oldest leaves each year - the lower leaves, those older than three years.
