Need to acidify soil, but hoping to plant mountain laurel soon

Hi,
For mothers day this Sunday, I wanted to go pick up some mountain laurels from Broken Arrow nursery and plant them soon. However, I just got the soil test back and our pH is 6.8. I was planning on using iron sulfate and sulfur to acidify the soil, but I wasn't sure if I need to hold off on planting to allow the soil to reequilibrate. If so, how long? If I don't buy the plants this weekend, I will have to buy them from a local place, which has smaller, less nice mountain laurels.

In addition to wondering how long to wait, I wasn't sure in what proportion I should do the iron and the sulfur.?

Any other suggestions? Also, in a different spot, I'm planting a rhodydendron.

Thank you very much.
Jill
