Take a look at leaf undersides and compare to pics - your azaleas almost look like they have damage from azalea lace bug.

A second observation, is that roof line over your bed without a gutter to catch rain? In my part of the country, a roof without gutters is about as common as truck without tires - but few plants can handle the overhead drenching runoff from a roof without eventual damage. I wonder too if the bit of damage along your bottom row of shingles doesn't indicate some splashing, which would also lead to compacted soils over time in the bed - difficult for azalea roots.
But check for lace bug, let us know...

Thanks Morz8! That's exactly what it is! Should I even bother with them this year before it gets cold, or do they survive into the winter months?

Lace bugs are just now becoming more common here - I didn't think we had them at all but I did find them on large leaved rhododendrons at my SIL's last year. Much easier to treat than your lower to the ground and dense azaleas.

Apparently the eggs will overwinter on leaf undersides (there is more than one generation produced per year) then will hatch in early Spring. This article from OregonState.edu does say horticultural oil will help to control at the egg stage - would not be that easy to apply to your plants and get the coverage you wish. Most suggestions are to treat in Spring when the nymphs first hatch...
