How Long Till I Know If It's Dead??

I am transplanting several sheared-into-small-balls azaleas from the front, hot sun spot of my front yard to a cool, dappled shade, freely-grow-as-big-as-you-wish back yard. (We just bought the house). Last night the one we took out was tightly wedged into a spot surrounded on three sides by cement and house. We had to practically destroy it to get it out (due to coming in from one side only). The roots held on to NO dirt --- just ripped up roots, (no rootball). I planted it in it's new azaela-friendly spot in the back anyway, and am giving it water.

It's a mature plant - maybe 12+ years old, but it's always been cut into a smallish ball.

How long till it withers and dies - presuming it does? The suspense is killing me.

(It's still holding it's leaves up rather perky looking - no wilt)

It's going to be rainy cool days for the next couple of days. Good!

Still - how long till I know??

I didn't cut/prune any of it --- should I??

Miss Mary
