I am still waiting for buds to open up on my rhody. It's been in the ground 3 years, never bloomed yet because the buds all froze off over winter. This year, again, most of the buds froze, but there are some buds still green and look as though nothing is wrong with them, but refuse to open. Granted I am only in zone 5, other rhodys have all bloomed around here. I treated this thing with kid gloves, burlapped for the winter, added soil sulpher to acidify our alkaline soil, mulched, and watered before the ground froze. If these blooms don't open, I am going to rip it out put in something that stands up better under our winters. Is it possible buds that look perfectly fine may not be fine?
