Rhodie questions

I have a client asking for rhodies in his garden landscape. I have no experience with these, I have looked them up, know that some are hardy to zone 5, which technically we are. The property is an old English Tudor red brick, and we will be removing some equally old juniper, spruce and other assorted evergreens. Even with this removal, we will still have substantial shade, and obviously acidic soil.

One question would be, will they tolerate low humidity? I can provide water easily, but increasing humidity is a more difficult proposition.

Do they break easily? Some winters we have no snow to speak of, last year we had several feet. All at once. Which is part of the reason some of the evergreens have to go, they are broken.

Thoughts?
