Florists azaleas are generally hybrids developed for their ease in forcing to bloom at particular times of the year/holidays. (The forcing process includes special lighting, growth hormones, fertilizers, controlled temps - and not always with regard to overall long term plant health.) There is a good chance it won't be winter hardy on your side of the mountains. It could go outdoors now in a location protected from all but early or late sun or placed in dappled sun, brought back indoors in Fall. But I have to warn you, they don't necessarily make easy houseplants in typical low indoor humidity.

I have been noticing giant azalea plants in front of people's porches, but I figured those ones were grown with outside in mind, sounds like my little greenhouse plant is probably not so hardy.

I'm kind of in love with azaleas now though, going to have to get one next year for the ground!
