Thanks in advance.

RE: Best site to purchase azaleas....

I think that Indianapolis is in USDA hardiness Zone 5 (-10F to -20F) and you will have a difficult time finding hardy evergreen azaleas because of your winters. Hardy deciduous azaleas and small leaved rhododendrons (lepidotes) are much easier to find as are large leaved rhododendrons (elepidotes).

These are very good rhododendron and azalea nurseries that ship:

Greer Gardens In Eugene, Oregon

Rare Find Nusery in Jackson, New Jersey

Here are some deciduous azaleas recommended for your area:

'Cannon's Double'
'Carlson's Coral Flameboyant'
'Crimson Tide'
'Homebush'
'White Lights'
R. atlanticum
R. calendulaceum
R. prunifolium
R. vaseyii 'White Find'

Here are some small leaved rhododendrons (lepidotes) for your area:

'April Rose'
'Faisa'
'Madison Snow'
'Molly Fordham'
'Mrs. J. A. Withington III'
'Weston's Aglo'
PJM Group
R. minus Carolinianum Group
R. micranthum
R. mucronulatum 'Cornell Pink'

If you do get into large leaved rhododendrons (elepidotes) try:

'April Rose'
'Faisa'
'Madison Snow'
'Molly Fordham'
'Mrs. J. A. Withington III'
'Weston's Aglo'
PJM Group
R. minus Carolinianum Group
R. micranthum
R. mucronulatum 'Cornell Pink'

The link below is to a University of Minnesota Extension recommendation of hardy azaleas and rhododendrons. It is an excellent reference.

The list of large leaved rhododendrons should be:

'Ken Janeck'
'Mist Maiden'
'Pink Parasol'
'Yaku Angel'
R. brachycarpum
R. brachycarpum ssp.
brachycarpum Tigerstedtii Group
R. catawbiense
R. maximum
R. smirnowii

RE: Best site to purchase azaleas....

I ordered three deciduous azalea from this place this year:
http://www.we-du.com/
I bought Wayeh Bald, Admiral Semmes, and Choptank Yellow & Orange
The Choptank Yellow & Orange either didn't like my summer heat or didn't get along with my southern magnolias roots. She died abruptly and immediately... and she was the biggest and healthiest plant. The other two are doing great.
As we had bad drought, I had to water them almost everday back in August but now they're adjusted quite well without me having to coddle them. Wayeh bald is showing great red fall color.
