Yes, Olga Mezitt is rather unique, it will do well in full sun and in fairly heavy shade. It is one of the PJM series which is very hardy (-25F).

If grown in full sun or close to it fall show will be spectacular:

However, full sun in a summer almost always means full sun in a winter as well and that might create a problem for a young, not established plant. You may want to protect it from the winter sun for the first couple of years despite its hardiness.
On a separate note, OM is usually more wide than tall and could become very open pretty fast. Judicial pruning in young age is recommended to keep it full.

Burlap should work. You'll be protecting it more from winter sun than the cold.
