Azalea & Rhododendron

Which rhododendron do you think this is?

In 2004 we went to visit a friend with 6 acres in Maggie Valley, NC. They actually lived pretty high up, about 5000 ft. They let me dig up a small rhododendron and this year it is blooming (two blooms!). I don't think it is r. catawbiense, but do you think it could be r. maximum? It does have a small speckled blotch on the flower, not seen very well in this picture. The biggest leaf is 7.5 inches long.

The twist in the leaf looks like R. maximum to me.

I'd guess R.maximum due to slightly contorted/twisted leaves.

Thank you both very much. I didn't realize that a twist in the leaf was a characteristic, but I'm glad it helps to identify it. I am thrilled to have this!

The part that looked like maximum to me was the shape of the flowers and their size relative to the leaves.
