Stewart Azalea Help

Can anyone help me? Last April (05) we replanted our landscaping. We put 3 Stewart Azalea under a large pine tree (the lower 25% of the trees branches are removed). Last year the azalea bloomed in June and looked all most completely covered in red blooms. Unfortunately, this Spring only about 3/4 of the plants showed leaves but look healthy. The upper 1/4 produced no leaves, so I trimmed this off. I have no blooms this year either. Any thoughts as to what is going on. I fertilize with slow release Azalea/Rodendrion food, water often, and used wilt proof over the Winter. What am I missing? More sun? They do receive some sun, but not all day. The landscaper indicated partial sun to be o.k
