luis, thanks much for that help. didn't you find it interesting how very different the coloring appears in photo 1 vs 2 and 3- of the sites you gave me as links? we,, anyway, i continue to be envious of those who can grow so many more rhodo varieties than I can, in z.5.

I know what you mean about the colors but I do not even have to look there. My Hino Crimson and Hino de Giri Azaleas produce red and magenta flowers that my own digital camera has a hard time reproducing faithfully. If it wasn't for other expenses, I would replace it with a better one.

But do not complain about your cooler weather. You get to have a bigger list of conifers, lilac bushes and peonies to choose from. I am on my third lilac bush, a variety develop by Descanso Gardens in California for warm climates. It seems to be a winner so far.
