Strong Encore

I'm less interested in the particular color than I am in the performance. Which Encore azeleas are known for their hardiness and reliable blooming, and which are more finniky? They'll get the first half day of sun then filtered shade thereafter.

They are equaly hardy, doing better in the Gulf Coast. A member posted recently to say her Encore Sunset has bloomed continuously in Z7 (Virginia). I have not heard if this reliably repeated in other years though.

If you go to the Encore Azalea website the hardiest are:

Autumn Amethyst, Autumn Carnation, Autumn Cheer, Autumn Lilac, Autumn Royalty, Autumn Ruby, Autumn Sangria, Autumn Sundance, Autumn Sunset, and Autumn Twist

They are hardy to Zone 6. Most reports are that in the more northern climates they are not very good at repeat blooming.

Of these 10, the following 5 are also resistant to lace bug.

Autumn Amethyst, Autumn Cheer, Autumn Royalty, Autumn Sangria, and Autumn Twist.
