Help!!! Dying Rhododendrons...

I'm new to this whole gardening thing and our rhododendrons are in desperate need of attention. We transplanted them from the front yard to the back and one looks dead, but there are small shoots coming out of the "dead" looking branch and there seems to be new life sprouting from the ground, which looks very healthy.

Here is a link to 4 pictures for you to see.

My question is what do I do with the dead looking branches? Do I cut them off and if so, how far down do I go? I truly have no green thumb at all, so I need all the help I can get. :)

Thanks,

Paula
